Some friends turned us on to this new holiday product, Elf on the Shelf.....here is a write up about it from Barnes and Noble.
The Elf on the Shelf is an activity the entire family will enjoy. Based on the tradition Carol Aebersold began with her family in the 1970s, this cleverly rhymed children's book explains that Santa knows who is naughty and/or nice because he sends a scout elf to every home. During the holiday season, the elf watches children by day and reports to Santa each night. When children awake, the elf has returned from the North Pole and can be found hiding in a different location. This activity allows The Elf on the Shelf to become a delightful hide-and-seek game.
Let me just say, Mo is WAY INTO this elf.....ours came today and she named him "Stumpy." We have been getting lots of traction with this. Mo is eating more of her dinner, putting her things away.....really following directions. This thing is brilliant.
Now how we can create a Valentine Sprite and a 4th of July fairy?

If you create those gifts need to be involved for it all to work ... cause you know they are only doing it for the gifts ...
Skye is WAAAAAAAY into hers too ... his name is Sprinkles ...
I will be very sad to put him away on Christmas Eve
I had a little elf like this when I was small. In fact, I still have it. I have used it as a pin cushion for many years. It is faded (originally green, it is now the color of sage) and almost falling apart. Cute little feller. --Aunt Jane
